Favorite things...

The Savvy Projects blog has challenged me (and YOU) to post something FAVORITE...Now, this could mean a favorite project, a favorite color, a favorite technique, a favorite WHATEVER...Sooo...I decided to post THIS card because it has just a sampling of some of my favorite things:

*** Pleats: 
Pleated the TAC patterned paper!

*** Sketches: 
My own sketch with a few tweaks.

*** PINK
(I tend to use a LOT of pink so I must love it, right?)

*** Flowers:
Used two flower sets for this piece.  Stamped the big flower then overstamped with the background flowers

*** Ribbon
I never make a card without a little ribbon somewhere!

*** Sparkle
LOVE adding Stickles to add a little bling! 

*** Doodling (well, kinda)

Hand stitching or doodling pictures...LOVE IT!

*** Colorbox Chalk Ink...MMMMMMMM juicy...Is all I can say!

The Golden Egg Challenge...

It’s The Golden Egg CARDMAKERS CHALLENGE! Who doesn’t love a good easter egg hunt???  Combine that with a card challenge and watch the golden eggs appear! To play along, cardmakers MUST use the items on the easter egg hunt list on your card then upload it to to the Savvy Projects Blog Posting HERE!

Easter Egg Hunt List (Items that have to be on your card):

~ GLITTER ~ Whether it’s prisma glitter or glitter pens … it just has to have glitter!

~ LAYERS ~ At least 3!

~ COLOR ~ At least 3 colors or more! Ink, prismacolor pencils, copic markers, etc

~ RIBBON or SCRAPPERS FLOSS

~ FLOWERS ~ At least 1!

So here goes: 

Glitter....CHECK!

Layers....CHECK!

Color....CHECK!

Ribbon....CHECK!

Flowers...CHECK!

Now lemme' find that golden EGG!!!

I hand cut the easter egg design then added layers and layers of paper.  Frutti Fusion patterned paper was my colorful selection and it also doubled for the flowers requirement....
Then I went on to finding the perfect stamps...I found those in Sweet Goodies (One of my ALL TIME FAVORITES!) and The cuties in the set Cheery Thoughts. 

I started out by stamping the circular sentiments then decided something COLORFUL needed to go inside and hey, CHILDREN LOVE EASTER and hunting for eggs and hearts and flowers...so you get the picture right?  It was PERFECT!  I punched two circles and they fit perfectly inside the sentiment ring so I stamped the little ladies, colored them up and distressed the edges to make the circles stand out more. 

The card wasn't complete until I added some ribbon and of course some GLITTER.  I used my Copic multiliner pen to create some empty polka-dots then filled them with my favorite Diamond Stickles. 

I folded that flower as I felt it was kinda big so folding it in half and adding it to the edge of the paper just worked perfectly!

Now I'm off to hide some eggs.  I wonder if you'll find one...

Pot 'o Gold Challenge...

This week, we've got a FUN challenge for you!!! 

POT OF GOLD Challenge

So you may be asking...What's in that Pot 'o Gold?  Well, let me just say it's got EVERYTHING you need to make a fabulous card!!!  But the trick is, you must use EVERYTHING listed in your project, or that blasted leprechaun will take the loot and RUN...

So here's exactly what you need to include:

Stitching

Punched Item

Ribbon

Button or Bow (or both)

GREEN

Layers (at least one additional layer)

The card I'm sharing includes everything as you know me...I LOVE stitches, punches, ribbon, bows, layering, green (and blue) AND my Copics!!!  I used my brand new Copic Air Gun for this card too...I've been dying to play with it!!!

So GET TO IT....Hurry before that darned leprechaun grabs the pot and runs!!!

It's a PARTAY...

PARTAY...YEAH! 

In searching for just the right paper and stamps to create my Color Throwdown Challenge example, I came across something in my kitchen cupboard...Something I purchased A LONG TIME AGO to give away as a gift...I never got around to altering it up...UNTIL TODAY!  I knew it was the PERFECT item to alter for my color THROWDOWN this month...I'm repurposing, recycling...and HAVING A PARTAY!  LOL...

So did you see the original post for my Color Throwdown #2?  Do you LOVE the colors?  Well, here's my take on the color palate...

THE ORIGINAL PACKAGING:

Yes, it's a popsicle gift set...hmmsnnhhh...ADULT POPSICLE GIFT SET if you will...I found this little package at Bed Bath and Beyond a while ago and it's been waiting patiently to be altered.  Today was the day to use it!  I took the packaging apart (the plastic was like a cover) and set out to make a template of the paper portion of the packaging.  After making the template in Bazzill Blossom cardstock, I continued to alter it by selecting some patterned paper...Kaleidoscope Girls, to be exact.  The pink plaid worked perfectly to wrap around those flavoring vials!  All it needed now was some STAMPING so I pulled out two sets I thought would work perfectly:  T2990 Sweet Goodies and one of my favorite hostess level A sets, TA8324 Whoo Loves Ya?

First I wrapped the vials with patterned paper and threaded them through the plastic handle.

Then I stamped the Bazzill Blossom cardstock using Versamagic White ink. 
Then I put the package together and attached some green ribbon. 

After that, I stamped the sentiment twice (Whooo Me?) and cut it out in a tag shape, poked a hole and threaded some green bakers twine to tie in a bow.

Next, I stamped some little flowers with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with my Copics:  YG06, 11; R20, 35, 85.  I attached the flowers with a pop dot to some green cardstock (upcycled from a set of green cards). 

Finally, I stamped the circular sentiment, punched it out with my Classic Circles Nesties then cut a matching scalloped circle to finish it off...Oh wait...I had to add some BLING too!!! LOL

Hey friends!  Today I'm sharing just a fun little card to get you into the mood for GOING GREEN WEEK...  It's in a few days so to get you all pepped up, I'm sharing a little card I made Sunday night.  You see, I found some AWESOME notepad paper in the dollar section at Michaels and bought it only because I LOVED the design and thought it would be great patterned paper...soooo....I made a card with it.

TAC™ Contributing Artist Dream Team

Yes, you've guessed it!  Several of my fellow Angels suggested I try out for the Dream Team so I thought, why not!  Heck, I'm already in the swing of stamping and playing with my newest stamps, so I thought it would be fun to create some additonal cards and projects specifically for this call.  What do I have to lose right??? 

So today, I'm posting three cards and a fun project.  Brand spankin' new and hot off my workspace!   Oh yes, some of these items also help me spotlight other current TAC promotions as you will soon see below. 

So let's start out with one of my most favorite things to do:  Making Sketch Challenges...I try to create at least 7 sketches a week so I decided to use one of those sketches-one I posted for a challenge I'm hosting in an online gallery.

I think More Mimi patterned paper is so delicious and every time I use it, it makes me think of LOVE....so I created a card for February...The MONTH of LOVE...and used two stamp sets:  Date Discs and Pick A Date.  The flower was stamped with Memento's Juicy Purples ( Lilac Posies ).  I also used Copics G21, E77 to add a little coordinating color to the pearl stick pins (I buy white embellishments and add color using my Copics!) Are you wondering how I created that sparkly heart?  I stamped it in Versamagic Pixie Pink ink then cut it out.  With the heart placed on non stick pad, I applied gold stickles and let it dry...perfectly beautiful heart, don't you think?    

And now on to the next card.  I wanted to work with February's Stamp Of the Month and it was pretty amazing coloring this adorable pooch named Ruffles!  I've never owned a dog stamp before but when I saw him, I knew I needed to take him home.  I mean look at those eyes...He's just beggin' for someone to take him home!  For this card, I focused totally on that pooch...Because I wanted a BOLD BLACK image, I decided to ink Fluffles up with Versafine Onyx and heat set it to allow me to color with my Copics.  Now some say you can't use Versafine Onyx with Copics, but with the coloring technique like this and my heat setting the ink, I was able to create as much to a realistic look as I could. If you look closely at the background paper you will see that I stamped it with Ruffles too!

To create the background I stamped Ruffles using Wheat Versamagic then embossed it with white embossing powder.  After that, I used a dry pad of Jumbo Java to distress over the white and the edges.  And you know me, I HAD to add a little ribbon and some machine stitching!  Isn't he cute???

 Now on to card #3...

 For card # 3 I wanted to create a card using another sketch I made.  This time, I made the sketch specifically for this call and after creating it, went right up into my craft room to build something from it...CHALLENGE...Right!

 For this "Flower Pot" card (doesn't it remind you of a flower pot?), I decided to bring a little spring sunshine and wanted to use one of my most favorite TAC sets called I LOVE EASTER.  This is a wonderful set if you love to COLOR and includes several adorable bunnies like the one featured here.  I used SO many Copic colors for this card as I just kept adding colors until I was happy with the outcome.  Do you do that???  I did keep track, so if you want the colors I used, get a pen!

 Instead of adding circles as a trim (as in my original sketch),  I opted to use the RUNNING STITCHES stamp set.  It's probably one of the most popular stamp sets of all time and I LOVE IT!!!

This was such a fun card to make.  The orange strip (DCWV) is a little belt that slides over the card to hold it together and keep it closed.  If you are interested in a video tutorial for this card, let me know and I'll film one.

Now for my final submission for the call, I wanted to create a project that was fun and useful in my craftroom;  something that would help me contain all my acrylic blocks and most used tools...right on my desktop...  So here's the project.  I call it "The Blox Box".

For this simple project, all you'll need is some mat board cut to size, YES! Glue (or PVC glue), patterned paper (I used two sheets from the Tutti Fruti Collection), T2820 Just A Note, and a little ribbon.
