August Color Throwdown...

Hey everyone! I thought I'd pop on for a minute to post my new color challenge. This August color combo is delicious huh?  What inspired this color combination? Well, new color trends and some yummy fabric I picked up when at Joanne's last week. You can see a picture of it in my previous post HERE.  I'm working on making a new purse with it and I just LOVE the colors!

Here are a few paper suggestions that will work for this challenge:

The Hemingway Paper Collecdtion (minus the greens and blues)
Yellow Smoothies:  Grapefruit, Lemon or Pineapple Bliss
Black Smoothies:  Blackberry Swirl, Flintstone
Taupe Smoothies:  Almond Cream or Kraft -but actually a bit grayer if you can find it
Cream:  Aspen Cardstock, Ivory Ultrasmooth Cardstock, Natural Cardstock Assortment

NEW RULE!!!
I think I need to implement a new "rule" in my challenge...or I'm really going to go broke!  Since I buy EVERY stamp set I give away, I need to make sure that it is really worth my while.  So...From now on, I will be giving away a free stamp set IF and WHEN there are AT LEAST 10 participants in my challenge.  I really love to see all the creative ways my colors inspire people so instituting this little "rule" will help ME and it's no impact on those who already play along.  SOOOO...PLEASE encourage your stamping friends to participate!  I would REALLY appreciate it.

Now on to the winner of Challenge #6:

There were six participants so I plugged those numbers into my random number generator on my sidebar and this is what popped up:
So that means KAREN is the lucky winner.  Please email me Karen to get more information about your free stamp choices!

May is shaping up to be a BUSY month for me (beginning prep for the dreaded STATE TESTING) so that means the weekends will be tight...That doesn't mean I won't need some relaxation time and stress relief!  I'm sure I'll be locking myself in my stamping room to do some crafting...it's my stress relief for sure!

Have you hopped over to the SAVVY Projects Blog lately?  YOU NEED TO because it's been UPDATED and is PINK!!!  I LOVE THE NEW LOOK!

Join the fun at SAVVY PROJECTS blog this month as every week a new sketch (by Heather Scott) will be revealed.  We challenge YOU to join the fun and make something using that sketch.  Every day, another happy blogger will be sharing their creation using that sketch and you can join too by posting yours in the inlinks at the bottom of the post!

So, wanna see this week's sketch?  I encourage you to create something from it and post, post, post!
Now I'm off to make something using this FABULOUS sketch!  I'll come back and update my post when it's ready!

Black and White and a Splash of....

Yellow!

Yellow?  Really?  I NEVER use yellow!   When I sat down tonight to make a quick card for Holly May's "Black and White/Splash of,.." challenge on the SavvyProjects Blog, I pulled out an itty bitty stamp that's never seen the inside of an ink pad!  The little GWP TG3438 Compact Car (Fall Supplement) is so cute and I can't believe I never used it before.

I love to DOODLE and this car is PERFECT for that.  The first idea that popped into my head when I looked at that cute little car was a CAB...so I doodled it up by adding some checkerboard stripes across the side and a TAXI service light on top.  I think I've been in two cabs in my life and neither one of them looked like the stereotypical New York City cab but I just had to give it that recognizable look!

Of course, I HAD to add the yellow smiley face to the antenna ").  And wouldn't you know it, I found the perfect sentiment in the T3241 Bug of Fun set!!!  Wierd 'cuz all I was thinking as I was working on this card was the sentiment...

"I don't wanna go..."
"You mean I really have to leave?"
"Head for the hills!"

That's what I was thinking!  Since it was a quick card, I added some faux stitching using T2610 Running Stitches...This set is an oldie but goodie and really works well when you don't have time to change the tan thread in your machine to black!!!  PSSSSSTT....Disregard the red brake light...I HAD to include that!!!

Notice the background?  I used an old Cuttlebug Embossing folder called Traffic Jam...PERFECT eh?

Hope you find some time this week to participate in this challenge, it was fun and QUICK!  Make sure to check out all the other entries below, maybe yours will be NEXT!

One Layer Color Throwdown #1...

Woo Hoo!  Last night I was on a quest to complete the One Layer Wonder challenge at The Angel Company's papercrafting community NING group.  I wanted to try to see if I could actually create a card with one layer.  That's a big feat for someone like me.  I love layers, sewing, embellishments and everything BUMPY...

BUT I DID IT!!!   YEAH!  I'm so excited.  Now, I guess I can at least feel that I did ADD ON to my card because I also incorporated my first color challenge...DOUBLE YEAH...so you can say I piled it on in another way, right?

Here's my card:
So you want to know how I created this collage style card?  Well, it was simple really and I've created a PDF tutorial.  If you would like a copy of the directions (with photos), please post a comment and I'd be happy to pass it along to you.  If you reply, please have a way for me to get in contact with you so I can send the PDF in an email...

Can't wait to see what these colors have inspired in you!!!  Don't forget to post your creation on the original Challenge Post HERE.
