Hello stampers! Today is a very special day. It's Flag Day and it's time to CELEBRATE! Do you know what that means? Do you know why Americans celebrate this day? Well, Check it out
HERE. Fly YOUR flag to show your pride in AMERICA!!!
To CELEBRATE this special day, and on the Savvy Projects Blog, we're having our own FLAG DAY Celebration in the form of a HOP. We've even been given a treat from
Nina B, one High Flyin', ROCKIN' and Rollin' Designer for TAC. I am sharing two cards I created with her new set, VINTAGE RIDES that incorporate the use of a FLAG...I challenge YOU to make a card with a flag too!
My first card was created with my current
Color Throwdown #5 challenge in mind.
It's a pretty clean and simple card, really. I wanted the focus to be drawn to the banner AND the plane...That's it!!! I cut a one inch strip of each patterned paper then cut uniform triangles. I colored some white paper with the yellow Copic to make it match perfectly. After attaching the triangles to some rope, I attached the "Zooming By" sentiment to the edge then glued everything down. The edges of the triangles were slightly curled to give added dimension to this card.

Here's my second card...GIRLY and SPARKLY!!! (You know me!)
School's OUT! Summer Bike Ride...I created this card by placing the bike to the far left of the page so I could add a stick for the "flag". I remember having a "banana seat bike with a flag positioned just like it!". Those were the days. Because there was a lot of white space, I added some stippling with various light Copic Colors to create depth and a little dimension. Grounding the bike you'll find some "snipped" grass....The perfect touch for this LONG card measuring approximately 6 x 4.25 inches.
A little closer and you can see the feathering technique used as well as some stippling. And...Corner rounded and stitched the card!!!
