Heaven Sent...

Hey Stampers!  I'm back today to share a card I haven't had a chance to upload until tonight.  This week on the Savvy Projects Blog it's the the fourth week of "A CARD A DAY IN THE MONTH OF MAY" and this week's sketch is fabulous!!!  There's only ONE WEEK LEFT of the challenge...

I love the layout and decided to use some of my newest Spellbinders dies to create the border and the circle element.
Isn't this little girl adorable?  She's from the set The Joy of Easter.  She really has a little chick in her hands but I decided she needed a little butterfly so I stamped the butterfly in the set, colored it and cut it out then placed it perfectly in her hands!  This image is SO fun to color too.  I just got a little carried away with all my coloring as you will see with my LONG list of Copics used!  The paper is from an old MRO design stack...I love it's playful design.
Copics Used:
Skin: E000, 50; YR00, RV000, R20
Hair: Y23; YR14, 23, 24, E25, 35; Y15, Y18
Dress: R02,20, 32,85; RV 21, 23
Butterfly: B52; BG 05, 53
BLING:  YG25

OF course you can see the sentiment is on the outside of the card so it fits the sketch perfectly but actually, it is removable and can be inserted on the inside of the card too.

I hope you can find some time to play this weekend!!!

SOOOOO stinkin' cute!

Here's another card created using the May STOM Sunflowers which is 7.95 (with qualifying purchase) until June 1.  I wanted to create a playful card, something less serious.  The set is so elegant and often times it's hard to think of anything but elegance when that happens, but I did find a way to create a more playful card...

It was all about this little shiny (Glossy Accents) ladybug...
You see, ladybugs don't stay still for very long.  They're wandering little treasures!  I used the ladybug stamp to create a background all over a lime-y green piece of cardstock.  Then put together a card with a white strip of paper sitting on my desk, some deelish May Arts Ribbon I've not had the will to use yet and of course, some tiny embellishments to finish it off... Oh wait, the sentiment...Yes, the sentiment was perfect...well, not when I stamped it...I stamped it crooked on both sides of the paper then decided, oh what the heck...it's a fun font and ladybugs are happy so....I'm happy too. "Slap 'er on and call 'er done!",  HEE HEE.

Font used:  Joyful Notes

Blessings and hugs...

 Hi again,
This is another card created using the May SOTM Sunflowers.  It's $7.95 when you purchase 30.00 or more before June 1.  For this card, I took liberties to modify a sketch by Heather Scott.  You can see how I changed it...

Here's her sketch #34:

Here's my sketch...tweaked as you may see...removed the box, added another layer on the horizontal stripe and slid the circle to the right, then added a sentiment at the bottom.  I can't make a good ribbon on my sketches so just imagine one there ").
In taking a closer look at my card, you can see that I used a few background stamps to create a richer feel.  I used Background Soup (I debated on whether to fill in some of those circles with my copic blender) and Script Background.  PS...I'm loving the Angelee paper, you can see I used it on this card too!!!  PSS...The ribbon is from the More Mimi ribbon collection.
Searching for just the right sentiment proved very challenging.  The font and the sentiment had to be just perfect...This font  (R-2055-Lucy) is a little to playful for the feel of this card, but it was the best I could do with what I had.  It works too!

we shall live on...

Well, another end of the world prediction down the tubes...YEAH!  Only God knows when that'll happen, so for me, walk on...

Today I'm sharing another card I created using this month's stamp set of the month Sunflowers.  The flowering can is so fun to color.  I don't know why, but for some reason, I keep pulling out my colored pencils to color it in.  Relaxing...yes!  I thought the sentiment was perfect for this card (Be Still).  It's on the retiring list right now (Discounted price:  $10.97) but it won't be retiring for me!

This card is a little pocket card.  The front panel is glued only on the outside edges so the tag (I NEVER use those tags that are included in the paper kit!) could slide right in. At first, I selected the papers I was going to use:  Angelee.  This pattern reminds me of Frank Lloyd Wright stained glass. I pulled the hint of purple out of the card and found some of my prized HANKO Tsumugi Cardstock (Lavender) cardstock to finish off the mat.

Some leftover anniversary announcement ribbon worked perfectly for this tag!

I distressed the can first with Ranger Vintage photo then colored with colored pencils.  Colors used:  Purple (Crayola Metallic Purple), Light and Dark green (Crayola), Mango Orange (Colorific), Yellow (Crayola), Aqua Blue (Prismacolor), Brown (Crayola)

I'll be back shortly with a few more projects created with the May SOTM!!!

Color Throwdown #4....a bit delayed

Oh geez,
I've been looking for more entries in my color throwdowns so I'm a bit delayed.  April brought only TWO entries...Boo hoo... but oh well... You snooze, you loose, I guess.  Thanks to the two friends who joined the fun.  The winner of the APRIL color throwdown is....

Please email me your address so I can get your prize out to you ASAP.

Now on to my next challenge....Color Throwdown #4... I'm creating some fun seminar trades (TAC Angels who attend the yearly The Angel Company Seminar often bring samples they've created to swap with other TAC Angels...Similar to pin trading at the Olympics) with this combo!  Some may think it's spa-like, others may think it's beachy...whatever you think, I LOVE these colors...YUMM!!!!

ETA Thanks for the comments!  I really appreciate them.

Juliet and others, This color combo coordinates VERY well with papers found in the Sands of Time collection (Classic SWIC), papers in the Amberley Grace, Winchester, and the Hemingway Collections.  It even coordinates with the Pemberley Bay matchbook kit found on page 104 of the Inspiration book.  I'm sure you can find other papers in TAC collections that will work well too!!!
Need a few more deets for my challenge?
Here's the scoop:

On the 12th (or so) of each month, I'll post a color challenge right here. All you have to do is create something using these colors, upload your photo to the inlinkz on my blog, and cross your fingers. The following color challenge post will announce the winner AND the new challenge! Sound like fun?  If you are interested in taking this challenge, simply create a stamped project (card or altered item) using the colors displayed in the throwdown. Post your creation here and you'll be entered into a drawing to receive a gift certificate to spend on TAC products found in any current catalog!!!

May Sunflowers!

Hey friends...

This weekend was a fun filled rush to celebrate Mother's day, my older sister's birthday AND to attend my niece's dance recital on Sunday.  What a busy weekend!!!

I did sneak in a little bit of stamping time before I had to leave though.  I had a chance to work on my card for a "virtual" swap I'm hosting on the Angel's Only ning group.  This "swap" has a deadline of May 18 and will be turned into a useful PDF that will help inspire those stampers who LOVE the May Stamp Set of the Month:  Sunflowers!!!  If you're interested in participating in this "swap" and in receiving the PDF version of all the cards created for it, please contact me!

For my card, I decided to use a little bit of patterned paper from the RUSTIC CHIC patterned paper from the WingIt collection.  I also used Spellbinders Labels 17 and my Grand Calibur to create the embossed effect for the sentiment.

Here's the sketch I created to go with this card:

Many of the details for this card are available exclusively to the "virtual" group.

Complete materials list including Copic markers used available to the "virtual" swap group and other TAC angels on May 22.

May is shaping up to be a BUSY month for me (beginning prep for the dreaded STATE TESTING) so that means the weekends will be tight...That doesn't mean I won't need some relaxation time and stress relief!  I'm sure I'll be locking myself in my stamping room to do some crafting...it's my stress relief for sure!
